OUR STORY

It all began in Athens, where meals turn into memories and every recipe tells a story. That is why Yaya’s Gyros is much more than just a fast-food place: it is a story of love, heritage, and sharing. Born and raised in Switzerland, Yannis has always maintained a deep connection with Greece, the land of his roots. Every summer, he would return to his family in Athens, and especially to his grandmother, Yaya, whose cooking brought everyone together around the table. It was there, among the scent of oregano, the sound of the grill, and the laughter filling the house, that he discovered the true warmth of Greece.

But with each return to Switzerland, a sense of emptiness set in. The flavors, the aromas, and the atmosphere he had known there were missing here. Nowhere could he find the taste of Yaya’s cooking, her secret recipe, or that simple and generous conviviality that embodies the soul of Greece. From this nostalgia was born a desire: to bring a little piece of Greece to Switzerland, through secret family recipes and an atmosphere faithful to that of Greek tables.

Every gyros, every pita, every marinade prepared at Yaya’s Gyros is a tribute to his grandmother and to everything she passed on to him: a love of flavor, family, and sharing. Today, Yaya’s Gyros is not just a name, it is a promise. The promise of traveling to Athens and feeling the sun of the Cyclades in every bite. At Yaya’s Gyros, family is a sacred value, and every dish is an invitation to come together and experience a little of that Greek warmth in Lausanne.
